Many photographers release their work with a Creative Commons License, meaning you can use it in your work providing you link back to the artist.

User Interface
Everything is searchable, taggable, commentable..etc. The most exciting part being the Flickr API resulting in an expanse of apps emerging. Flickr’s App Garden showcases apps and offers help for creating your own app.

Community
The Flickr Community can boast groups of comparable weirdness to those of Facebook. I think it’s up to you to decide which group wins here though. The Facebook group “Physics Doesn’t Exist, it’s all Gnomes” or Flickr’s Food Face group. Leave your vote in the comments.
